Links!
Where I like to go on the Net... all X-Files related, of course. These are the sites I visit everyday, or as often as I can, or whenever they're updated. They've made fanfic that much more enjoyable for me.
p/s this is, of course, an entirely personal list, and certainly not an exhaustive one. There are a great deal of X-Files sites out there... many of them gorgeous and well worth the visit. I will expand this list at some point, I'm sure. In the meantime, enjoy. :) I can't believe it took me a year to update this page!
SITES OF GENERAL INTEREST (I hope!)
This is the show's official site. How could I not mention it? If you're a newbie, this is the place to go to get connected to the X-Philes on the Net. Everything you need to know, with a non-shippy stance (hard to find on this page!). It's now updated very regularly, and boasts lots of first-hand info on the show, as well as flash intros and exclusive pictures. Lovely.
Maintained by Scott Miller. Captures all the stories from the ATXC newsgroup, and has handy feedback functions like recommendations, hits and other cool info. You can spend hours wandering around here, reading the very newest fic to debut on the Net!
Gossamer (Fluky)
There's Gossamer Krycek and Gossamer Skinner too, but I'll just link you to the first one alphabetically. This is where you'll find every piece of XFic on the Net, as far as the archivists can help. This site blew my mind when I first got interested in fanfic. The XFic community is one of the biggest and best-organised ones around. This proves that.
What every fanfic author needs - a huge resource tool, this! Episode transcripts, reviews, pictures, sounds even. If you need detail, this is where you have to go. Completely up-to-date... every episode from Season Six is transcribed already.
Haven for the FBI's Most Unwanted
This is a must-visit site for all shippers. Beautifully maintained, with tons of options to choose from. There's fanfic, collages, spoilers, news, multi-media... everything. A wonderful place, and one of the best sites I've ever seen that's dedicated to the X-Files.
For those who don't have newsgroup access, or whose news server is cranky at best, sign up here and you can find any message ever posted to a newsgroup. Of course, I'm signed up here purely in the name of ATXC, just to make sure I don't miss out on any exciting threads or good stories.
This place houses a selective archive of fanfics which have appealed to the webmaster, Darkstryder, past and present. All the best stuff can be found here, and it's easily categorised by title so you can find it all. It also doesn't hurt that I'm archived here... <vbg> The webmaster has stopped updating for a while now, but the archive still exists.
X-Files Fan Fiction Links or
X-Files Fanfic Links
More complete selections of archives, pages and sites I can't find. I often use these pages as springboards to other sites I visit, and since I can't get everything I look at into this page of mine, I'll include a link to a couple of good links pages. These are... good links pages. Very good indeed. ;)
The Official Gillian Anderson Website - GAWS
If you're a fan of Gillian Anderson and her work on the X-Files, this is probably a site you visit everyday. Very regular updates, comprehensive, and respectful of her work and private life. The absolute best source of all things GA on the internet today.
One of the foremost reviewers of X-Files episodes on the 'net. Not only is it great how she picks up on all the little things that make the show special (Frank's Fashion Spot, anyone?), she also manages to do so in a wonderfully humourous way. I'm often tempted to make some of her comments my signature in e-mail or on ICQ. <g>
INDIVIDUAL AUTHOR
SITES
I've only just set up
this section of the site today; there will be more sites
forthcoming, when I get official permission from other authors to
link to them.
Dreamshaper's X-Files Fanfiction
Should I be admitting a beta-bias at this point? Well, I guess it's pretty evident that the beta-bias is mutual... but Dreamshaper has some of the loveliest Mulder/Scully characterisation I've read. She has a wonderful way of expressing the most complex thing in the most simple and elegant way, and there are some turns of phrases she has used that I could kill her for. Well worth the visit.
The Rookery
Collective home to bugs, Ambress, Branwell and Penumbra
The work of all the authors on this site (maintained by bugs) is outstanding in the fanfic community. I also personally adore the layout of the site... to think that bugs once had to ask me for HTML advice! The dustjacket tours are lovely, and the stories are even better. Be prepared to give up a few hours of your time when you hit this link though: there's no way you'll stay for only a few minutes here!
Caz has the amazing ability to write in gorgeous, flowing language that makes you ache and smile and shiver, all at once. She also has a great feel for the Mulder/Scully dynamic, and brings these characters to life on the computer screen in a way that very few fanfic authors can even aspire to. Did I also mention she's a shipper? A girl after my own heart. ;)
