Post-Ep Ponderings
Watching the X-Files always inspires me.
Who hasn't been completely bowled over by classic episodes like "Pilot", "Beyond The Sea", "Memento Mori", "Redux I/II", "Triangle", "One Son" etc. etc.? There are so many episodes of the show, and every one of them pushes buttons inside the audience. There's a need to resolve problems the show leaves hanging, a necessity to find some kind of truth in the eps, to make sense of them in our own ways.
There's no better way to find closure than through post-ep fic. IMO, if done well, it's the best kind of fic there is. It deals with the real issues of the show, thorny, shippy, melancholy, whatever. The best post-eps are the kind you think of when you watch the episode again, and can clearly remember the author's writing in its clarity and truth. I can only hope some of the ones that follow have affected others the way the forty-plus minutes of the X-Files affects me every week.
SEASON FOUR
In Time - "The Field Where I Died"
Touched By Darkness - "Elegy"
SEASON FIVE
Certifiably Normal - "Bad Blood"
SEASON SIX
Doomed - "Drive"
And A Good Night It Was - "Triangle"
If I Were You - "Triangle"
Frog To Swan - "Rain King"

Lighter Shade Of Pale - "Tithonus"
Coming Together - "One Son"
Not That Different - "One Son"

Coming Who Knows When: a large-scale fic for Arcadia, if it ever materialises. Have an idea for a post-Alpha fic too, as well as one for Three Of A Kind... I've a lot of loose bits floating around in my floppy for other eps like HTGSC and Dreamland, but those are only going to come out if I find the time to polish them up.
SEASON SEVEN
Stars In The Rear View Mirror - "Millennium"
